I was born in the midlands, grew up in Kenya, studied zoology and immunology at Edinburgh University and now live in west London. During my years of research and teaching, I have studied writing, pottery, printing, drawing and painting, never entirely leaving any of them alone. My present focus is on painting and drawing.
Some work is fairly self-explanatory, yet where there is a story behind a piece, I have related it. I have been inspired by many other artists and you might spot their influence here. I have always resisted pursuing any one style or approach, rather more enjoying the pleasure of varying what I do. Some pieces are figurative, representational, others are abstract to one degree or another.
I take the greatest pleasure from landscape painting and my latest watercolour and oil paintings here are examples, some inspired by local scenes and others by walking holidays in the UK and abroad. I enjoy painting on location, but generally prefer to work in a studio using notes, sketches, photographs, and above all my memory, to complete a painting. I take my time to finish some pieces, often leaving a work for months before returning to it with a fresh eye.
All works are for sale.
To buy a picture, please email me with the TITLE of the work and its REFERENCE number found in the Information screen for each picture.
Use the message system on the Contact page, or the Get In Touch button on this page.
If you would like to know more about any work, please write.
Postage/carriage and packing costs for UK delivery of smaller works are included in the prices shown, and will be provided for larger pieces.
I have mounted and/or framed some pictures using economic materials as I find a new owner will often want to reframe a work. Of course, I am happy to provide mounted/framed work simply as paper or canvas.
